Forgotten Harvest, Metro Detroit’s only food rescue organization, has announced a gift match in honor of Mothers in our community. This is a perfect gift for donors who wish to honor their Mother or special people in their lives with a donation that will help feed Mothers with families in need of food. Every donation will be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000.

From November 8 to November 17, Wayne State University will collect canned goods and non-perishable food items in an effort to distribute 300 food baskets to local families in need for Thanksgiving. AARP will donate turkeys for each food basket. Our goal is collect enough food to donate a week’s worth of food to each family.

Did you know that 500,000 people live in poverty across metro Detroit?
For 2010, Fashion In Detroit has partnered with Michigan-based Forgotten Harvest, a non-profit organization established in 1990 to tackle two issues: hunger and waste. Forgotten Harvest strives to eliminate hunger in the metro Detroit area by saving prepared and perishable food and donating it to emergency food providers.

October 21, 2010Karagosian Jewelers recently held a charity event with more than 250 people in attendance. Through raffle tickets and champagne glasses purchased, $5,270 was raised for Forgotten Harvest, providing meals to local residents in need.
