A Message from our CEO, Kirk Mayes

Mothers are heroes. Often, it’s not in dramatic ways, but in the day-to-day care they give their children. They sacrifice and give everything they can. But unfortunately, thousands of mothers in metro Detroit are now struggling to provide one basic need — food. It’s hard to be the hero when they have to look into their hungry child’s eyes and tell him or her there is nothing to eat tonight.

That is why Forgotten Harvest is here. As metro Detroit’s food rescue organization, Forgotten Harvest serves families in crisis by rescuing fresh food from 800 food donors and delivering this nutritious food — free of charge — to 250 emergency pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and mobile pantries.

And that’s why I’m so excited to tell you about our Mother’s Day Matching Gift Challenge. The Harold and Kay Fund has generously agreed to match every donation, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000! (Double your donation by clicking here!)

Now your gift can help twice as many! A gift of $25 becomes $50; $50 becomes $100. With every $100 donated, we can help rescue and deliver 1,000 pounds of nutritious, fresh food, or $1,400 worth of groceries! Food to feed hungry children … food to help those struggling to feed their families.

Can we count on your support? Show moms and their children that someone cares and send your most generous gift today. Please don’t let another family go hungry tonight. Remember, your gift today will go twice as far during our Mother’s Day Matching Gift Challenge. The solution is right here in front of us. Please help so we can rescue fresh food and get it to those who need it now.

Gratefully yours,

Kirk Mayes
CEO
