Derrick Colman and Forgotten Harvest Join Forces to Help Fight Hunger Over the Holidays

While many people are looking forward to the holidays and enjoying a bountiful meal with family members this holiday season, In Macomb, Oakland and Wayne Counties, about one in four children (22.6%) live in poverty. In the tri-county area, 584,000+ people, including 192,000+ children and over 61,000 seniors over age 65, live in poverty (US Census, ACS, released Sept 2018).

Derrick Coleman, Forgotten Harvest board member and CEO of DC Elite, has spearheaded this annual effort that will help provide additional food for many in our community. Coleman, a native Detroiter, and a cadre of former professional athletes will be hosting a 2018 DC Elite Holiday Repack Event with Forgotten Harvest on Monday, Dec. 10. from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Shed 3, Eastern Market, 2934 Russell St. Detroit Mi. 48207. Joining Coleman with Forgotten Harvest at the 2018 DC Elite Holiday Repack Event will be the NBA Legends Detroit Chapter, a nonprofit whose mission is one of diversity as they develop, implement and advocate a variety of programs to benefit the greater Detroit metropolitan area.

We will need one adult for every 5-10 students to chaperone in the packing process.
