Chop Down Hunger, presented by Kroger Co. of Michigan, is an exciting, fast-paced virtual cooking competition hosted by Food Network star, Chef Amanda Freitag! In celebration of women in the culinary industry, the event will feature chef contestants Genevieve Vang of Bangkok 96, Manal Hussein of For the Love of Sugar, Shanel DeWalt of the Kellogg Company, and Allie Lyttle of LaLa’s Ann Arbor. Chopped champion Crystal Smith and Detroit Free Press food & dining reporter Sue Selasky will additionally join us on our judge’s panel.
Our four contestants will battle it out using surprise basket ingredients grown on Forgotten Harvest Farms in an effort to become the first-ever Chop Down Hunger champion!
All proceeds from Chop Down Hunger will benefit Forgotten Harvest Farms, our fully operational, 95-acre farm where we grow fresh produce to donate to Metro Detroiters in need.
